New season of the Optimum Hotspots saga.

Remember Ben and Hotspot, the talking dog? (see archives Jan 2014).

This time we meet our heroes in a cupcake store, a theatre, and in their kitchen.

As usual, we first built some real backgrounds, at a 1/16 scale. We take pictures of real life places, and then print these pictures  and spraymount them on cardboard. All the details in our sets come from the printed pictures.

The pictures we used for the Cupcake store:
   And the Set we made:

All this construction process is quite similar to mapping picture on simple shapes in cg. But not completely similar:

   Thank you guys!

Then we have a CG process for animation. Our characters are animated and rendered in CG. We   animate them in a stopmotion style, not totally fluid. At last, we render the CG pictures and composite them in the backgrounds we shot before.

Here are the 3 steps of animation, from board to final result:

Dragon

A dragon design for one of the Optimum "stop motion" film I did this summer. It was supposed to be a reference to Game of thrones's dragons.

                                                    Obviously I missed the target,
this is how it eventually looked like.
